Stanko Juzbašić
(Split, 1959)
Upon receiving his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Portuguese language and Literature, he decided to live with and make a living with music. During the eighties, he took part in the recording of more than sixty albums as session musician pioneering the usage of innovative digital technologies in music production. As composer, he was attending Master classes at Columbia University Music
Department under the mentorship of Bradford Garton, Ph.D.
He composes solistic, chamber, orchestral and electro-acoustical music mostly to be heard in some major theaters of Croatia, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Switzerland. He is also active as media artist, pedagogue in the field of sound design (Moving Academy for Performing Arts / Akademie der Künste, Berlin 1995-2001) and researcher in the area of music informatics.
He composed music for the opera "Psyche" (Slovenian Youth Theater, Ljubljana, 1993), ballet "No Steps on Grass... ...Falling Angels" (Croatian National Theater, Zagreb, 1998), dramatic legend "The Kermess" (Croatian National Theater I. pl. Zajc, Rijeka 1991), suburban legend "Liliom" (Theater in der Josefstadt, ORF, Vienna 2003) as well as fifty other pieces performed on stages and festivals throughout Europe.
He collaborated with many dramatic artists and theater makers: Boris Bakal, Ivica Boban, Krešimir Dolenčić, Ivan Favier, Michael Helmerhorst, Karina Holla, Joško Juvančić, Gert Jonke, Janusz Kica, Ivica Kunčević, Karl Markovics, David Mouchtar Samorai, Ellen Stewart, Zlatko Sviben, Vito Taufer, Ctibor Turba, Frits Vogels, Peter Wittenberg among others, as well as with many distinguished musicians such as Bernhard van Beurden, Steven Brown, Blaine Reininger, Sergej Evseev, Neven Frangeš, Stojan Kuret, Stojan Kuret, Josip Lešaja, Igor Lešnik, Tomislav Mužek, Saša Nestorović, Mitar Subotić, Mladen Tarbuk, Ratko Vojtek.
He is member of Croatian Composers Society, Croatian Union of Independent Artists and Multimedia Artistic Organization "Shadow Casters".
Lives and works in Zagreb, plays a few instruments and speaks a few languages.
